Wattpad Essentials: Week Three: ArthurPendragon (One Direction Week)

This week is One Direction week on Wattpad Essentials. Some of you might not like it, but fanfiction has pretty much taken over Wattpad. And, if we’re being completely honest, I don’t mind it one bit. In fact, I write it! But, I don’t think I’ll ever compare to ArthurPendragon. And now is the time I suggest fanfiction readers polietly stop reading.

Alright, now that we’ve sorted out the Directioner from non-Directioners (how?) we can move on.

The first story on this list actually isn’t a story; it’s a one-shot. And it only has 782 reads. I’m honestly flabergasted by that one. Anyways, this one is actually based on what the author, ArthurPendragon, thought Louis’ 21st birthday would be like. I have to say, this is the most realistic fanfiction I’ve personally ever read. I can honestly imagine all of this happening. It’s called The Mixtape.

The next, and sadly last story in this addition of Wattpad Essentials, is The Summer of Harry. Now, I’m sad to say that I haven’t actually read this. Yes, I’m recommending something I’ve never read; but, in my defense, it’s been recommended to me. And, if has over 5 thousand votes, so, you know. It kinda has to be good. This story isn’t ArthurPendragon’s most popular story even. That one is called The Official Boyband Handbook, and we aren’t talking about that one since (spoiler alert!) the boys get amnesia and I can’t handle those stories; too many tears. Here’s the description for The Summer of Harry:
The story of boy meets girl. The story of girl meets boy. The story of fate and the music that sets us free.

Yeah, the description is short, but it sounds good. And don’t worry, this story is on my To Read list…along with over a hundred others. Oh, and The Summer of Harry has a sequel, which can be read here.

WEEK FOUR:  Slim_Shady (The Bad Boy, Cupid & Me)

Wattpad Essentials: Week Two: Fallzswimmer

  

So, this week we’ll be looking at the works of Fallzswimmer, aka Ali Novak. Now, there are other works besides the two we’re going to look at today that are amazing, including her story The Heartbreakers, which is a personal favorite of mine. But, today we’ll be going in-depth on her popular Walter Boys series.

Yet again, before we go into this, I want to give you some background on the author. In her interview with Wattpad, she revealed the reason behind her usuername; “I grew up in this small town called Fallz, and then I’ve been a competitive swimmer since I was five so I just threw the two together.” [1]

The first one in this popular series is called My Life with The Walter Boys.
Sixteen-year old Jackie Howard knows nothing about her new guardian Katherine Walter when she moves from New York to Colorado. After discovering that Katherine has twelve boys, Jackie fears that living in the Walter house isn’t going to be easy. It’s just icing on the cake that the boys look like Abercrombie models…

Now, I honestly can’t say much other than the dialogue and situations she puts poor Jackie in are hilarious. Okay, actually, they border-line on complete and utter rolling on the floor laughing moments.

And, the sequel, since if you read the ending you’ll know it needed another story, is called My Life As A Walter Boy. Personally, I love how the titles are similar since it is a series. What do you think? Comment your opinions below.

Cole Walter has just graduated college, but he can’t find a job. When his mom finds him work in New York, he is thrust into a girl crazy world as an assistant to the editor of Cosmo. That means living with a certain beautiful girl named Jackie. Will old feelings bubble up, or fade out forever?

Yes, this is in Cole’s point of view. And I loved it! I know you hear about how some authors just shouldn’t go to the guy’s point of view since they know relatively nothing about being a guy –you know, being a girl and all– but I think Ali pulled it off nicely.

So, that’s all for this week since I have food to go eat, and if you know me personally you’ll know food typically doesn’t last long in my house. So, I’m off to go devour that.
