Down For The Summer and Co-Owners Unite

Hi, guys! So, I’m sorry to say but The Residential Wattpadder is shutting down for the summer. SORRY! I’m just too busy to do much anymore, and even with summer coming up I can’t seem to get things off my plate anymore.

Also, I’m looking for a co-owner to help me run this thing in the fall of 2013. So, if you’re interested go ahead and comment below telling me your e-mail address and I’ll go ahead and send you a test. It’s nothing like SATs or anything, guys; it’s just to see if you know what you’re doing.

Once again, I’m so sorry! I hope you guys will forgive me!

Around the beginning of the school year, I’ll be making a new post to explain to you what the new and improved Residential Wattpadder will be like.

Yours truly,

Emiaa ❤

Saturday: Interview with Micap89

Does anyone know the story, “Jocks with Benefits”? Or how about “Moon Scars”? Well then you probably know the incredible author who wrote both those stories. Today, I got to interview MicaP89, a very talented, smart and funny Wattpad author who has over 4,000 votes! All of her stories are amazing, including “Jocks with Benefits”, which is her most popular story. Here’s an excerpt of it:

“All I ever wanted was for Bobby Mason to notice me. But that was nearly impossible since I wasn’t apart of the In-Crowd. There was only one way for a nobody like me to become popular: date a jock. The only jock I knew was Taylor Drew. And I hated Taylor Drew. “

Here’s a little bit about Mica:

– Her real name is Mica

– She is 22 years old

– She is a graduate from College, and she majored in Computer Science

– She’s American (Yup, the crazy kind ;D)

– She makes her own covers

– She is a big kid at heart

– And Spell-check is her very best friend

We chatted for about an hour (an hour and 6 minutes to be exact!) and you wouldn’t believe how amazing it was! I mean, she gave me so much information that I am about to share with all of you that it was crazy! Crazy I say! Her love and dedication to her fans makes her an excellent person, plus she is a very talented writer! But enough with my ranting, let’s get on with the interview, shall we?!:

What is your name?

Mica, just like my wattpad name says, only everyone thinks it’s pronounced like My-ka

or Me-ka. But it’s actually Me-sha. Like Mischa Barton (but you may be to young to know who she is ). The P is for Pizza and Pen name, my dad calls me Mica Pizza.

How old are you?

22

When did you first start writing?

I don’t even know, I’ve been writing for what seems like forever. I remember writing a story when I was in elementary school, maybe 4th grade, about a girl named Maria and her best friend Jimmy Lee x_x

Do you remember what your first story was about? If so, can you explain?

Well Maria and Jimmy Lee is my “so called first story” and it was about a little girl who got a new babysitter, because her dad had to work and she hated her babysitter. They later became good friends.

Who inspired you to write?

It’s just always been a passion. Mostly coming up with story ideas. I would always come up with great ones in my head and finally I thought I would just write them down.

When did you first discover Wattpad?

I discovered Wattpad back in October. I was tired of my old website MissLiterati and I wanted a change. So I came here.

What is your favorite story on Wattpad?

I don’t have a favorite book on wattpad. There are way too many. But I’ll read anything by my friend SCCourtney, All of her books are my favorites.

Does anyone inspire you on Wattpad?

Everyone’s an inspiration. It takes serious guts to come up with stories and then post them. Wattpad authors have some serious heart and balls.

Even the girls who technically don’t have balls.

Out of all your books, which one is your favorite to write?

Ugh, that’s such a hard question. I really love writing my Moon Scars series. Currently I’m on the second book, Craters. It takes a lot of effort because it’s fantasy but I try to make it as realistic as possible, even though there are werewolves and a few other supernatural things I haven’t revealed yet.

What is writing to you?

Writing is freedom.

I think full freedom is being able to do what you want, when you want it, the way you want it and that’s how I feel about writing I can do anything to someone’s life (not that I like playing God or anything) but I love to be able to control something. I can make people fall in love, make people hate people, and be creative about it, it’s like Frankenstein, I’m the doctor creating a monster in this case crazy teenagers who fall in love and turn into werewolves.

What is your favorite genre to write about?

I don’t have a favorite genre. I love to write about everything and anything. But most of my stories are fantasy/paranormal/supernatural with a lot of drama and romance. So if you can combine them: Maybe call it fantaparasuperdramaromance then that’s the genre I love to write.

Do you see writing in your career?

Yes, in college, which I finally finished this past may I was a Computer Science Major (yes I’m one of those math nerds x_x) and I minored in Film! Next to reading books I’m obsessed with films and movie sall kind, in every genre, and I took a screen writing course two years ago. I had a blast so in the future I’d like to quit working in the Computer science industry and become a screen.

I would love to write the scripts for shows and movies on Life Time, Disney or Nickelodeon, and even ABC Family. I always vision my books as movies before I even see them as books. Maybe one day one of my stories will be in the theaters or on TV: written, directed, and produced by me! =D But that’s a far fetch dream that I really hope will come true!

I’m sure me and a a bunch of your fans would love to see Jocks and Moon Scars in the theatres, I would love it if I did. Your stories really speak to a lot of people.

Aww thanks, I hope so! And I could totally see Jocks as movie!

Do you ever suffer from writer’s block? How do you get through it?

YESSSS! WRITERS BLOCK! A WRITER’S WORST NIGHTMARE! Right now I’m currently suffering from it with ALL OF MY STORIES! To get over it though (which I think I finally have done) I read other books both on Wattpad and actual hard copy published ones. Usually in the genres I’m writing about. They help me get inspiration. Or sometimes I listen to music, take a walk, or look at pictures… those kind of things always help me ease my mind.

What advice would you give to future writers-in-training?

Write what you know and what you don’t know sometimes. Sometimes those crazy ideas that only make sense to you will actually make a good story! And don’t give up. Not every story grabs immediate attention, so be patient!

What are your strengths and weaknesses about writing?

My weakness is definitely grammar. Anything from commas to sentence structure. That’s something I always had a problem with and I finally started getting better at it in college. My strength would definitely be my consistent creativity. I can always pop out a new idea and throw unexpected twists in stories. I have a major one planned for Jocks with Benefits!

When you sit at the computer to write stuff for your books, is it hard to think of stuff or does it come easily?

It’s half and half. A lot of times if I’m already frustrated about what’s going on in my crazy life it’s definitely hard. Other times it does come really easy and I’ll even laugh out loud or smile at the computer as the ideas pop into my head. My friends and family stare at me like I’m crazy because I’m smiling at a computer.

How would you describe yourself?

Wow, that’s a hard one. You would think a grown women would know how to describe herself.

Let’s see: TALKATIVE, in case you haven’t noticed. Haha.

Funny, outgoing, a tad bit crazy but aren’t we all, and super hyper. I get really excited over the craziest things! And I’m definitely a BIG KID! I’ll never grow up. This is weird because I’m really organized and serious when it comes to the things that require it but any other time.

I’m FOREVER 13! I love watching Disney Channel and Nickelodeon and Saturday morning cartoons!

How long did it take for you to build up all those votes and fans?

I don’t know. I wasn’t really paying attention to it. It just sort of happened by itself. And when I noticed it I was like WOW! I had a really great fan base from Moon Scars and my other story Serenade Me, and then when my friend Heather asked me to finish her story Jocks with Benefits because she was going through a rough time in her life. I did and that’s when everyone started fanning and voting like crazy!

How did you feel when your friend asked you to take over Jocks with Benefits?

I was perfectly fine with it but at the same time I was afraid I wasn’t going to do the story justice.

Well it’s obvious you a very talented- the story is a huge hit!

Thanks!

Is there anything else you’d like your fans to know?

That I LOVE AND ADORE THEM! They make me want to continue to write! I don’t know if I would if they weren’t on the side lines cheering me on!

So that is it! There you have it! I hope you enjoyed this interview as much as I did!

See you next Saturday!

Saturday: Interview with Not_Present

Never in my life would I ever, and I mean EVER wear a fat suit to school. I’m just personally not a person who enjoys negative attention, or any kind of attention for that matter, but Rena, oh gosh Rena, she doesn’t mind. In fact, she actually chooses to wear fat suits to school everyday. And those walls in the bathroom stalls that people write about her could be considered her babies. I’m nothing like Rena, I’m sure a lot of people aren’t like her, but that’s what makes the book so interesting.

Not_present is an amazing writer. Not only is she extremely nice and talented, but she’s the author of “Project Fat Suit”. She is also a hilarious person, with her “Your Face” jokes.

You should really check her stories out…

I’m serious.

Not_present’s real name is Liz, and according to her profile, she is a talented poet. Her favorite color is green, and she is an animal lover 😀 She is currently an upperclassman in High School, and she can’t stand chocolate. When I asked why, she said she had no clue… But enough of my ranting and let’s get on with the interview, shall we?!

•••

1. What is your name?

Liz.

2. How old are you?

I’m an upperclassman in high school if that narrows it down. Sorry, I’m not allowed to give up that much info online.

3. When did you start writing?

Well, technically, in the third grade when we had to start writing about those weird prompts about why your siblings are aliens. But I started writing story-stories in seventh grade.

4. Do you remember what your first story was ever about?

My first story-story was about a girl named Berry Totter, who was a wizard and went to Snogsworth. I know. J.K. Rowling totally ripped that off of me with her “Harry Potter”. Just kidding, I love her work and totally respect her.

5. Who was your inspiration to write?

I think I’ve always had a fun time writing, but what inspired me to finally publicize my writing was the lack of originality on some of these websites. Plus, an online friend (MysteryMagic) urged me to start writing.

6. Do you have any favorite authors? Who are they?

Yeah, I love Dostoyevsky, J.K. Rowling, Jane Austen, Rick Riordon, and other people.

7. Does anyone inspire you on Wattpad?

I’ve always been a fan of XxSkater2Girl16Xx. Who isn’t? She’s finished at least eight books that are all amazing and has gotten over 60,000 fans.

8. When did you first discover Wattpad?

I found Wattpad when my favorite authors on Quizilla kept mentioning how much more amazing Wattpad is, so I decided to check it out.

9. What is your favorite story on Wattpad?

My favorite story of all time is I Sold Myself to the Devil for Vinyls… Pitiful I Know by DarknessAndLight. It’s one of the most emotional, yet funny books I’ve ever come across on Wattpad.

10. Out of all the books that you have written, which one was your favorite to write?

Well, I’ve only ever seriously written one, so I guess Project Fat Suit wins.

11. Who do you think is your #1 fan on Wattpad?

Everyone who hasn’t left me because of my inconsistent updating schedule.

12. What is writing to you?

Writing is adventuring to me. You get to decide who is who and what they do. You, yourself, can be what you’ve ever wanted and do whatever you want to do. All you have to do is write it.

13. What is your favorite genre to write about?

Comedy is my favorite because I like thinking of jokes.

14. Do you ever suffer from writers block?

Yes. My Gosh. It seems like every sentence is a battle of getting over writers’ block. It’s the most horrible thing I’ve ever experienced and I’ve been in a motorcycle accident.

15. What advice would you give to future writers-in-training?

Be original. That way, you don’t have to live up to the standards of others who have written the same plot or be intimidating about using clichés.

16. What are strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing?

I feel that my strength is being able to use grammar and spelling well and trying to connect my readers with the characters. My weak spot is updating regularly. I find it hard to sit down and write something when you have the worst case of writer’s block and procrastination all at the same time.

17. How would you describe yourself?

I would describe myself as the girl who’s the quiet, shy kid. But once you get to know me, I’m pretty crazy.

18. How long do you think it took to build up all those fans?

It’s almost been a year now.

19. Who is your favorite character in ‘Project Fat Suit’? Why?

Benny is my favorite because he reminds me so much of my dad. Like Benny, he has a habit of mishearing things. Plus, it’s really fun writing the inner workings of Benny’s random mind.

20. Do you see writing in your career?

No, I have a feeling that I wouldn’t do very well. My parents don’t really approve either.

21. Is there anything else you’d want your fans to know?

I love them all. No, seriously. I wouldn’t of have gotten this far without them. PFS would just be a distant thought in my mind. They have been the most support group ever and they deserve to be showered with pie and cookies . . .

unless they’re allergic.

Alright everyone! That’s the interview for today! Stay tuned for the next interview with who knows and make sure to check out “Project Fat Suit”!

See you next Saturday!Image

Monday: Wattpad Essentials: Slim_Shady

So, today we’re going to start off with a little background on the author like usual. But, I thought I’d play it up and make a list instead.

  • Slim_Shady (aka Hasti) has over 18,000 followers– from just one story!
  • The Bad Boy, Cupid & Me reached Teen Fiction #1 on 12/12/12
  • The most rebellious thing she’s done is skip Geography class, which, as she says, “is kind of pathetic.”
  • She’s addicted to iced coffee, like I once was.

Now, onto the review and such. But first, here’s the description for The Bad Boy, Cupid & Me:

Reece smirked, “Trust me Chloe, the Good Girl always falls for the Bad Boy.”

Chloe Armel is a Good Girl. She never gets in trouble, gets excellent grades and is loved by everyone.

Enter Reece.
Wild, badass and has an ego that honestly couldn’t get any bigger. He gets into fights, breaks every single rule and couldn’t care less about the consequences that come with it.

When Chloe’s parents leave to treat sick children in Cambodia for two weeks, she is forced to stay at her neighbour’s house.
Her neighbour has a son, and it’s Reece Carter.

Sneaking out. Parties. Drinks. Hash Brownies. Flirting. Breaking the Law…and Road Trips. Add a few shots of Cupid’s Arrows and what have we got?

No clue.

All we know is, it’ll be unforgettable.

So, she doesn’t quite like the description since, as she says, “I suck at descriptions…” But, I didn’t mind the description. It’s mysterious in a way and gets the point across. Plus, I don’t think she couldn’t have picked a better line from the story to draw the reader in.

This story was amazing. I just re-read it so I could give you a good review, and I have to say I wasn’t disappointed. In fact, I was amazed at how much I forgot about it! So, that’s why I think this deserves to be on Wattpad Essentials.

Now, the writer, Hasti, won’t be writing anymore due to the fact she doesn’t think the spark is there, plus she’s in year twelve, which is a Senior to us Americans, and she just doesn’t have time to. Of course, she’s still on Wattpad, interacting with fans and reading the One-Shots fans write about The Bad Boy, Cupid & Me.

Tell me what you thought of The Bad Boy, Cupid & Me by leaving me a nice comment!

Thursday: Review of Childhood Sweethearts

Childhood Sweethearts by Lilohorse

He stared arrogantly down at me, a smirk plastered across his face.
I sneered up at him with distaste, wanting to wrap my fingers around his neck and strangle that smirk off of him. He brushed my golden hair from my face, his long, slender fingers sparking electricity in my skin, making my knees wobble together, despite my wishes.
“Will you ever, forgive me?” he whispered huskily, his eyes intently staring into mine. His face was only mere inches from me. I just needed to reach out a little further to kiss him…
“Yeah. Over my dead body.” I snapped, before throwing my arms out forcefully, shoving my hands into his chest, pushing him from me.

-*-*-*-

He, is Carter Williams. I, am Lacey Adams. We were once, inseparable. We were the ‘Golden Couple’. Literally. We had the golden couple cliché thing going on, and we both had golden hair and tans. The unbreakable best friends, that everybody envied. Nothing, could get between us. A part from being tighter than white on rice, we updated our status from friends to being in a relationship, frequently. We were neighbours, which meant our families were all close and even co-owned houses around our town. This, all is, until the day of my sixteenth birthday, everything changed. The loving relationship we shared, was severed and torn apart. I couldn’t hardly stand to look at him any more, without spitting fire, that is. Every day is torture, being around him. He was in all my classes at school and the window in my room was even directly aligned with his. So, what happens? My mother’s mum gets sick, so Dad and her fly out, just them. Leaving me, to stay with Carter and his parents, who are never home. We would be alone… in one house… under the same roof. If I was insane before, I have no idea what I am now.

Okay, so the blurb is a little long but don’t let that sway you away from this great read. Though the author took a painfully long break, where I cried everyday from wanting updates, this book was worth the wait.

It’s a sweet story about two ex-best friends and their slow transgression back to friendship… and possibly something more. The awesome part? The best friend is super super H-O-T-T. He’s sarcastic yet can be sweet and a total player. It’s the perfect male character package!

The story line is original yet the main story line is something we all, well at least us girls, have always want. A hot ex-best friend who also happens to be our neighbor.

It’s a MUST read!!!!

Tuesday: What’s Hot

Baggage Claim The Light of Hope Series Book 1 Heart of a Cowboy
Since Mother Nature has decided to mess up her schedule and delay spring again (that groundhog was a LIAR!) I figured you could all distract yourselves from the insane amount of snow with new books! (But seriously. There’s a lot of snow. Literally 30 seconds ago a heap of it fell off my roof and gave me a mini heart attack. So thanks, Mother Nature, for doing that and making my poor dog go hysterical. I can’t wait until the sun shows up again!)
First up is Mystery, which this week is Baggage Claim by nikayaya
Layla has traveled all over the world as a stewardess, hoping to escape the memories she left behind in her hometown. After an accident on a flight forces her back to Geneva, Layla is forced to face the tragedy and broken family she left behind in the small upstate New York town, and realizes that sometimes emotional baggage just needs to be emptied out.
And now here’s for an Undiscovered Gem! Never judge a book by its cover (though I am being a tad hypocritical by saying that)!
Clare is a seemingly normal girl just trying to get through high school. Little does she know she’s part of so much more. When the truth comes out can Clare help to save to world? Or will the powers of Darkness triumph?
The author, _Love_Bug, is completely smitten with One Direction, as is the majority of Wattpad. So do you remember that challenge? (Read and/or write a completely original story, send me the links, and I’ll give you a completely honest review.) Yeah, this seems like a pretty good time to bring it up and tell you to do it.
Heart of a Cowboy by caffrey1974
Corinne McAllister is enjoying her life Colorado Springs. At just 18 years of age she is faced with decisions about her future. Though being courted by another, her affections lie with Ryne Wilkinson; a cowboy and rancher whose homestead is just outside of town. Life’s twists and turns will bring them together, but will they be able to stay together when the dust settles?
Yay for Historical Fiction! Even if you don’t read this genre, you should. My librarian always says that you should read outside of your comfort zone and just read everything. (Glad I could give you advice today. Must be the snow.)
Bye for now! Happy reading!
Love ya,
EDITOR‘S NOTE:
I’ve been so emotionally distraught (thanks, Cassandra Clare) that I forgot about the whole Monday thing and I haven’t written the Wattpad Essential’s for this week, so I’m giving you two next week since I’m off for Spring Break and hopefully I can get over Will Herondale before then. Of course, then there’s TLH series, so we’ll see him again. But, yet again, that itself caused emotional distress…and if you aren’t a Shadowhunter, you obviously have no idea what the heck I’m talk about. *sigh* This is what happens when you take Jem and Will away from me; a blubbery mess.
Sorry, mundanes.

Thursday: Review of The Cell Phone Swap

The Cell Phone Swap
The Cell Phone Swap by DoNotMicrowave
Keeley accidentally swaps cell phones with a rivaling high school’s star quarterback. Unable to switch back until a week later, she must interact with the arrogant boy, passing along texts and voicemails. As she gets to know him better, she realizes there’s more to him than sexual innuendos and egotistical comments. But when identities are revealed and secrets are exposed, will Keeley’s feelings remain?

This story is probably one of the most hilarious, awkward and realistic stories I have ever read. Keeley is a sassy character that I, frankly, wish I was more like. And don’t even get me started on her potential love interest Talon. Can I just say swoon worthy?
The hilarious phone conversations, pranks and pay-backs Keeley and Talon endure while they’re in possession of each other’s cell phones, made me laugh so hard that I think my stomach is permanently injured.
For those of you who prefer a little more mystery there’s always the unknown identity of Keeley’s brother’s enemy, the mysterious J.T. I think I might be more interested in finding out who J.T is, than when and how Talon and Keeley will finally get together.
To sum it up, I am in love with this book. The type of in love where I check my phone for updates, daily, weekly, and sometimes even hourly. It’s a must read!

The Dragon's Claim Downright Delinquents. Enjoying The Chase (completed)
Hey guys! Hope you all had a lucky St. Patrick’s day! I didn’t really, but I love St. Patty’s day because I’m 75% percent Irish. Yep. Don’t ask me how that’s possible. I will just continue being Irish.
Anyyyywaayyy, the first genre is Fantasy today!
The Dragon’s Claim by CateyBug123
With her mother being a head detective and her father a booming business man, Scarlett quickly learned how to grow up alone and help herself. Her hatred for this man only escalates when he claims that she belongs to him; her distant parents going along with it. She quickly finds herself thrown into a world she didn’t even know existed. Join Scarlett as she struggles to find her place in her new life and deal with the Dragons claim.
Sooo, this book is REALLY popular on Wattpad and I’ve never read it. Looks like I lost that one. Whoops. But it sounds really good, so you should all go read it. Yeah.
You know what? Let’s just continue on the pattern of insanely popular Wattpad books that I’ve never read but you should definitely read.

(Editor Interruption  I’ve read The Dragon’s Claim, and it’s amazing. I think it’s still on my Top Ten, so, uh, yeah.)

Downright Delinquents by LaurenJ22
Hayley Larson is the girl everyone wants to be. She is a model, has amazing friends and has the perfect life. All of this is, until her father is brutally murdered. Her perfect life spins out of control and she still hasn’t picked up the pieces, which is why she is sent to Downright High, the school for delinquents. Here, Hayley finds herself in a mixture of trouble, ranging from enemies, fights, riots to even falling in love. Will Hayley end up getting her life back on track or will this school end her, once and for all?
The author, LaurenJ22, is from Australia, has a fear of spiders (just like Ron Weasley; “Why couldn’t it be follow the butterflies?”) and has an obsession with the show Prison Break. She’s very dedicated to her fans and I admire her for that.
^^ If you got my HP reference up there, props to you. Sorry, that’s what happens when I have coffee combined with control of the TV: HP movie marathons.
Enjoying the Chase by kirsty1000
Nate Peters is a player. He has great friends, a great job, no responsibilities, no girlfriend and he LOVES it. He’s never failed to get a girl in his life, that is until he meets Rosie. She’s totally uninterested in him and he can’t stand it, she dents his ego and he’ll stop at nothing to win her.
OKAY, this is THE MOST POPULAR BOOK ON ALL OF WATTPAD! Yes, I realize that What’s Hot is not about ‘what’s popular’, but that’s kind of what it turned into today. Whoops. Oh well, now you have more amazing books to go check out.
See you next week and happy reading!
Love ya,
Bethany
P.S.~ Remember that challenge? (Either write a completely original story (NO FAN FICS) or find one on Wattpad to read. Send me the links (hpwand16 on Wattpad) and the winner will get an honest comment on their story!) Ready, set, go!

Wattpad Essentials: Week Three: ArthurPendragon (One Direction Week)

The Mixtape The Summer of Harry

This week is One Direction week on Wattpad Essentials. Some of you might not like it, but fanfiction has pretty much taken over Wattpad. And, if we’re being completely honest, I don’t mind it one bit. In fact, I write it! But, I don’t think I’ll ever compare to ArthurPendragon. And now is the time I suggest fanfiction readers polietly stop reading.

Alright, now that we’ve sorted out the Directioner from non-Directioners (how?) we can move on.

The first story on this list actually isn’t a story; it’s a one-shot. And it only has 782 reads. I’m honestly flabergasted by that one. Anyways, this one is actually based on what the author, ArthurPendragon, thought Louis’ 21st birthday would be like. I have to say, this is the most realistic fanfiction I’ve personally ever read. I can honestly imagine all of this happening. It’s called The Mixtape.

The next, and sadly last story in this addition of Wattpad Essentials, is The Summer of HarryNow, I’m sad to say that I haven’t actually read this. Yes, I’m recommending something I’ve never read; but, in my defense, it’s been recommended to me. And, if has over 5 thousand votes, so, you know. It kinda has to be good. This story isn’t ArthurPendragon’s most popular story even. That one is called The Official Boyband Handbook, and we aren’t talking about that one since (spoiler alert!) the boys get amnesia and I can’t handle those stories; too many tears. Here’s the description for The Summer of Harry:
The story of boy meets girl. The story of girl meets boy. The story of fate and the music that sets us free.

Yeah, the description is short, but it sounds good. And don’t worry, this story is on my To Read list…along with over a hundred others. Oh, and The Summer of Harry has a sequel, which can be read here.

Thanks for reading this installment of Wattpad Essentials! I’ll see you all next Monday!

~Emiaa ❤

WEEK FOUR:  Slim_Shady (The Bad Boy, Cupid & Me)
